Essentially, one becomes a personal trainer to help people make some serious changes on their body, life and mind! We guide people to get healthy from the inside out. Our responsibility is to kill fat, increase muscle, train minds to be discipline, and then of course we inform clients of a plan for nutrition and exercise when they are not in the gym. A super awesome day in the life of a trainer is when you hear some serious results from our clients.
Yesterday was one of those days! We had three clients walk in the studio with some excellent news. Each of them crushed their goals of losing over five pounds. One was at eleven pounds! The best part for me was these three were over fifty years old!! And you know what? Each of them were motivated and hungry for more results.
Society and social media has given us this notion that you are limited after a certain age. Almost like you should give up with feeling beautiful, having fun, and taking care of yourself. Age is a gift not given to many. OWN IT!!! You’re alive, you should feel sexy, healthy and happy. Stop believing you are too old to make a change. Quit lying to yourself my friend! All it takes is commitment and hard work! Yes changing a routine, or a lifestyle is going to be work. Don’t be fooled by “hard work”. It’s just takes some work to not do your same old ways.
“If you think 20 to 30 minutes of cardio a few days a week is all you need to keep your health in check over the next few decades, it’s time to wake up and smell the iron.” Smell the iron people, you have to create the right routine to make change!! Allison Van Dusen wrote an article for Forbes describing the importance of strength training at any age. In her article she quotes a director of performance nutrition that says “People are training to live better.”
Aren’t we at any age training to live better? This is why it is recommended to hire a professional to get where you want to be. We will create the appropriate plan for you. And guess what? We don’t care what age you are. We know lifting weights is essential no matter how old, and even more important after fifty years old when muscle mass declines. So smell the iron, quit the age talk and let’s get you to your best self! It’s your turn!!!
